three select

The Bodymusik page has been more or less dead this year ( crazy long hours doing sound work for the British TV/Film industry). So, I thought I better get back here and start posting some musik.

If the 3 tracks below seem a bit random, they are. Enjoy them just the same. Hi-res business only.

Like Mingus, Ahmed Abdul-Malik rates as one of the great bassists in jazz. Born in Brooklyn of Sudanese parents, he was also a master oud player, and helped bring North African and Middle-Eastern texture into jazz with beautiful results. "Jazz Sound of Africa" is easily among my favorite records.
DL: Ahmed Abdul-Malik "La Ibkey"

Sutekh, named after the Egyptian god of storms and chaos, can be a bit hit and miss. But no one can say Seth Horvitz isn't prolific. He's releaseed stuff on (ridiculously) diverse labels, from Soul Jazz to Mille Plateaux. See him flip it live, his grinding Detroit inspired techno sets are lovely. This is a more subdued remix by O. Lamm, of some older material.
DL: Sutekh "Bed Of The Cylinder (O. Lamm remix)"

Chancha Via Circuito is Argentinian producer Pedro Canale, who has been all over the place lately with his cumbia-laced productions, appearing on the latest release from the DJ Rupture / Matt Shadetek label Dutty Artz. This one is from a disc called "Rodante" on the ZZK label.
DL: Chancha Via Circuito "Pachamama (ft. Poeta Inka)"

*Expect more mixes from Hang-Up DJ, and URL MONRO very soon.

Amazing tunes. Thank you for this. I'll be buying all the Abdul-Malik I can get my hands on now.
